Customise the logo of XMLUI interface

Prepare a logo as follows (125x74 pixel). Here image format is PNG.

Place the image in home folder (e.g. /home/vimal).
Open a Linux Terminal and apply following command to copy the logo image to the folder.

cp logo.png /opt/tomcat/webapps/xmlui/themes/Mirage/images

Open the css file to change the logo image attribute. Open a terminal and apply following command. Here Dspace webapps directory located in /opt/tomcat/. Dspace webapps may be located in /dspace folder. Confirm it before the execution of the below command;

leafpad /opt/tomcat/webapps/xmlui/themes/Mirage/lib/css/style.css

Find the following portion from the file.

change the width and height of the logo. Change the logo name.
Go to the Dspace XMLUI home page and refresh the browser.

Installation of prerequisite applications
Open  Applications > Accessories > Terminal and execute following commands. Text in italics are commands to be executed.

sudo su
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get install leafpad openjdk-8-jdk postgresql ant maven

Change header in XMLUI interface

This is the default text header in xmlui interface.

Open following file in a terminal,
sudo su
leafpad /opt/tomcat/webapps/xmlui/i18n/messages.xml

Find the line  (Line no. 2178)

<message key="xmlui.dri2xhtml.structural.head-subtitle">DSpace Repository</message>

Change the text Dspace Repository

Save and close the file.
Refresh page Dspace xmlui interface.

Full text indexing with Dspace

Media Filters in Dspace are responsible to extract text for full-text searching. Media Filters for HTML Text, PDF text, Word file, Power Point enabled by default with Dspace. 

Run media filter from command line
Media filter can run from command line. It will generate index for searching.  

sudo su
/dspace/bin/dspace filter-media

Dspace backup manually

Backup of database
Open a Terminal and apply following commands,

sudo su
(Enter Linux Root password)

pg_dump -U dspace -h localhost -Fc dspace | gzip > dspace-$(date +%Y-%m-%d-%H.%M.%S).gz

Enter the password of Linux user for dspace.

Backup of Asset store and log folders.
Execute thress commands one bye one;

sudo su
zip -r /dspace/assetstore
zip -r /dspace/log

Backup up files will be deposit in your home folder.
